Commercial Solar Funding Options
Whether you invest from cash reserves, spread the cost through finance, or want a fully funded solution with no capital outlay, we model every option and arrange the funding.
THREE WAYS TO FUND COMMERCIAL SOLAR
Every business situation is different. We model all three options against your specific numbers so you can make an informed decision, not a guess.
What about Grants?
There is no national grant scheme for commercial solar in the UK. However, regional programmes do exist and availability changes regularly. Some local enterprise partnerships, combined authorities, and devolved governments have active funding rounds, particularly for manufacturing businesses, SMEs, and energy-intensive sectors. Grant availability depends on your location, sector, business size, and where you are in your decision process. Timing matters, some programmes require applications before contracts are signed.
ESG Power checks grant eligibility as part of every detailed assessment. If funding is available in your area, we will find it and factor it into the model before you make any decision.
Which Option Is Right for You
Not sure which funding route is right for you?
We build a side-by-side funding model as part of every detailed assessment. Get in touch and we will show you exactly what each option looks like for your specific situation. Costs, benefits, tax position, and cash flow. All done before you commit to anything.

OUR LENDERS
ESG Power works with a panel of specialist lenders with specific experience in renewable energy infrastructure and commercial property investment. These are not generalist business finance providers; they understand the asset class, the returns profile, and the deal structures that commercial solar requires.
We package every deal and manage the application process on your behalf. You don't need to approach lenders directly or negotiate terms yourself. We do that as part of the service.
For larger deals, complex ownership structures, or landlord-tenant PPAWhat is this? arrangements, we have access to lenders whose entire model is built around exactly this type of project.
INCENTIVES
Commercial solar qualifies as plant and machinery under HMRC rules. The AIAWhat is this? allows a business to deduct the full cost of the installation (including equipment, labour, and associated works) from taxable profits in the year of purchase. The current AIAWhat is this? limit is £1,000,000 per year. At the current corporation tax rate of 25%, a £200,000 system generates a £50,000 tax saving in Year 1.
AIAWhat is this? applies to Hire Purchase arrangements and cash purchase. It does not apply to finance leases. The choice of funding structure is therefore a tax decision as much as a financial one.
THE PROCESS
Finance arrangement is included in our full project management service. You do not need to approach lenders directly or navigate the application yourself.
